Website Update - Comic Pages

Website is updated with all sorts of arty goodness! Comics, illustrations and such. I'll also be displaying work at this year's Dragon*Con in the art show. For those of you that do that sort of thing, I also have a Twitter account going.

• Sequential Art - 3 new penciled pages, 2 color samples and 1 inked. Color samples were done on pages provided by my great friend Nina Matsumoto, from her graphic novels "Avatar: The Last Airbender: Zuko's Story" and "Yokaiden."

• Illustrations - A LOT of new stuff. Elf and demon watercolors, a Tiefling piece which won a coveted ArtOrder pin-up contest, half-naked sailors, a D&D warrior in a dungeon, a Star Wars: Clone Wars piece, and a Lord of the Rings piece that was displayed at Radio City Music Hall and more.

• Figure Drawing - A few more figure drawing studies. Nudity warning, so check out the site for those.

2011 SCAD Sidewalk Arts

My square in SCAD's 2011 Sidewalk Arts festival. Done in sidewalk chalk in three hours. The bull and lion on the left were inspired by some lovely Assyrian relief work from the Boston Museum of Art, and the guy on the right is from one of my recent paintings, but with new Japanese woodblock inspired clothes to give him some color.

Website Update

Though I've been busy with work, I have finally managed to update my website Mirana's Mythology. There's new art, I'm also enlarging the size of the thumbs and (likely) starting next yr I'll bring back the image descriptions.

• 2 New Illustrations One of my albino Tiefling warrior, who's process shall get a write-up in the blog soon, and the other a more graphic styled piece in support of the efforts to fight breast cancer.

• 18 New Sketches 10 in figure studies from Dr. Sketchy's through the months. More life drawing pieces will be up in the next few days once the weather permits good photography. :)

• New Sequential Section Right now there are just colorist samples up, but the rest will follow once I'm not swamped...

Life Drawing

I love life drawing. I've been doing it since high school, when I would drive an hour into the next state every month just to draw for two hours. When at university I even did some (moderately clothed for parental waiver purposes) modeling of my own for the next generation of high school artists. Around my city the only life drawing available was student-only and I was about to knaw on charcol if I didn't get to do any soon. Then came Dr. Sketchy's a few months ago.

Jen Marlow runs a great thing. The models are gorgeous and though not nude (it's hosted at a bar, and the south has issues with bars and vaginas roaming free), they all have great costume which makes them even better to draw. If that wasn't enough (and really, it is) there's always music (if not a DJ), contests and prizes, a hosting resturant which means food and drink, and getting to know your fellow local artists and students.

Needless to say I'm a big fan of what Jen does and hope she keeps Dr. Sketchy's alive so the more people that check it out, the better. If you don't live in my area, check out the original Dr. Sketchy's page for a local venue...or start your own.

Shoutout to the lovely models: Suicide Girl Lazuli, my sister's best bud Scarlett, and Haywire. You guys were fantastic.

Start of an Art Blog

There's no better way to start off an art blog than with a smoking Kudu.

This blog will serve as an update center for my website, Mirana's Mythology. I will also try and do work-in-progress entries on new art when the need strikes me. In the meantime, visit my site for all the current arts. :)
